What is Urban Plunge?

Located in Chicago, IL this week-long immersion program delves into both systems and structures that are at the root of injustice today, all from a spiritual perspective. Chicago acts as a microcosm for problems facing people and our environment around the world. During the course of the Plunge we will visit sites that meet injustice head on with positive impact. They will include community organizations, healthcare institutions, faith-based institutions, youth-led organizations, to name a few. Participants will be immersed in a myriad of issues including: environmental justice, housing, prison/jail, community development, banking, diversity, LGBTQ, healthcare, worker rights and youth. They will also engage in a process of social analysis to help understand the root causes of these issues. The cost of the week is $225 and $200 for member congregations (each including 5 meals).
